With your partner you will describe what you think it means to be homeless before watching the slide show.
We will agree on our WALTs and WILFs as a group.
Now I will read some different stories and in your group you will discuss what the child's life is like. Each group will select a recorder (to take notes), and a communicator (to communicate the findings).
What does home mean to you?
Listen to this clip and see what it means to these people.
You will now discuss whether you agree or disagree with the statements in the clip. As a whole class complete the chart. Ask the children the following questions to further their understanding:
- What is homelessness?
- Why do you think people become homeless?
- How would you feel if you lost your home?
Discuss why you think everybody doesn't have a home and why.
Is it only in third world countries or does it happen here in Ireland aswel?
